Merkel had a phone conversation with Trump

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump discussed the situation around the coronavirus pandemic and Afghanistan over the phone, according to a statement on the German Cabinet’s website.

“The Central topic of the talks was the spread of coronavirus. The Chancellor and the US President agreed to remain in close contact in this regard and use the opportunities for cooperation,” the message reads.

The sides also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and expressed “common interest in the early start of intra-Afghan peace talks,” the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
