MediaTek announces Dimensity 900: 6nm processor with 5G

MediaTek has announced a new processor for the Dimensity line.

The chip was named MediaTek Dimensity 900. It received two Cortex-A78 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.4 GHz, six ARM Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, a Mali-G68 MC4 graphics accelerator and a third-generation APU module that is responsible for the AI function. According to the company, it has become more productive and energy-efficient.

The new chip is built using a 6-nanometer process technology. It was equipped with a built-in New Radio 5G modem, which can work with two SIM cards at once in SA and NSA mode. The Dimensity 900 also received support for displays up to 120Hz, LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memory, and an Imagiq 5.0 image processor. Thanks to it, smartphones based on Dimensity 900 can be equipped with a main camera with a resolution of up to 108 MP. The novelty is also worth noting support for Wi-Fi 6 (2×2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 5.2.

The first devices with a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chip on board will hit the market this quarter.
