The US presidential administration is discussing the possibility of appointing Secretary of state Mike Pompeo adviser to the head of state on national security, reports CNN, citing sources.
In the event of such an appointment, Pompeo will not lose the post of Secretary of state and will hold two posts at once. It is not known how seriously President Donald Trump is considering such a possibility, says a source of the channel. According to him, Pompeo personally offered the head of state several candidates for the position of adviser.
For a while, Pompeo will be Trump’s chief foreign policy adviser, and the President is happy with that, the CNN source said.
The last time the positions of Secretary of state and national security adviser combined Henry Kissinger. He headed the state Department in 1973 and retained both positions for two years.
