McConnell: Senate could begin impeachment hearings in January

Senators will consider articles of impeachment if the House approves them.

Senate Republican majority leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday that the Senate could begin considering impeaching President Donald Trump next month.

According to McConnell, if the democratic-controlled House of Representatives approves the articles of impeachment submitted on Tuesday, the Senate judiciary hearings will be “the first item on the agenda in January.”
