Matthew McConaughey was a guest on Ellen DeGeneres’ online show, where he described how he and his wife planted a tree in honour of the birth of their first child and fertilized it with the placenta.
Camila Alves, the actor’s wife, planted a mango tree 12 years ago in honour of her first son, Levi. Immediately after the birth of the child, Matthew had the idea to “feed” the tree with the placenta.
“It gave its first fruits after nine years. We shared this mango with the whole family and congratulated our Levi: “You have contributed to the growth of this tree, sir.” It was one of the best mangoes I’ve ever eaten, ” the actor shared.
McConaughey noted that the Australian Aborigines have a similar tradition. He learned about her when he was in Australia. “They had a tree under which the women of the tribe buried their placentas. It was taller and stronger than all the other trees! Near him was the most fertile land and the richest river in fish, ”said Matthew.
Also, in a conversation with Ellen McConaughey, he told how he conducts quarantine with his wife, three children and his 88-year-old mother.
“I sometimes say that I actually have four children – one 12, another 10, the third 7, and the fourth 88,” joked Matthew. He noted that in such a company it is difficult for him and Camila to find time for solitude.
