“The Empire of the United States once again underestimated the intelligence and determination of the people of Venezuela. I assure you that every attempt of imperialist aggression will be met with a decisive response from patriots, men and women who love and bravely defend our homeland,” he stressed.
Earlier, Venezuelan defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez called the attack on the country’s energy system an act of aggression. As later said the Vice-President, the Minister of communication and information of Venezuela, Jorge Rodriguez, we are talking about the cyber attack, commiting, probably, from the USA.
On Thursday evening, Caracas and most of Venezuela’s States were left without power supply. According to the local press, we are talking about 20 or 22 of the 23 States. Thus, electricity was absent virtually throughout the country. According to residents of the capital, this is the longest in their memory power outage in the city.
Electricity has now been restored in parts of Caracas. According to the National electric company, the cause of the incident was the sabotage of the Simon Bolivar hydroelectric power plant in the state of Bolivar, the largest in the country. The Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the incident of “American imperialism”. The state Department denied the charges.
