Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced his victory over the opposition forces. A recording of the broadcast is available on his Twitter account.
The head of the Bolivarian Republic congratulated the military leadership of the country, which led “the defeat of a small group that tried to fill Venezuela with violence.” He also ordered to investigate the coup attempt, which the opposition leader Juan Guido organized on the morning of 30 April.
“This will not go unpunished. I talked to the Prosecutor General, and he appointed three national prosecutors who interrogate all involved in this event, and they are instructed to investigate and make criminal charges,” he stressed.
According to Maduro, five soldiers were wounded during the coup, two of them in serious condition. Earlier, the head of the Department of the health of the municipality Chacao Makhia Santi said about 50 victims.
