No sooner had the news circulated that Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a female lead in the next Indiana Jones movie, when Lucasfilm announced that it had picked another actor to accompany Harrison Ford. It was Mads Mikkelsen.
It is already known that the director’s chair has passed to James Mangold, nevertheless Steven Spielberg will remain the producer of the tape and will take an active part in its creation. And John Williams, who has worked on soundtracks for every film in the franchise, including its iconic theme, will return as a composer.
It is assumed that production will start this summer, but the details of the plot of the new adventure of the famous archaeologist are still unknown. It is also unclear who Mikkelsen will play. Indiana Jones will be another major franchise in the acting career that recently replaced Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts.
Mikkelsen was nominated for a BAFTA but eventually lost to Anthony Hopkins. Nevertheless, the film won the prize for best film in a non-English language, and was also nominated for an Oscar for best film in a foreign language.
Recall that the premiere of Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled for July 28, 2022.
