Mads Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp in the third part of “Fantastic Beasts”

Rumours that 54-year-old Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen could replace 57-year-old Johnny Depp in the next episode of the movie “Fantastic Beasts” began to circulate in mid-November. However, then Warner Bros. declined to comment, and Mads himself denied news of his negotiations with the company. Today, the corporation has finally made an official statement.

Mikkelsen will indeed replace Depp in the third part of “Fantastic Beasts” and will embody on the screen the villain Gellert Grindelwald, already beloved by fans. Mads’ partners on the set will be Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law, who played in the previous part of the franchise.

Recall that Johnny Depp had to terminate his contract with Warner Bros. after his loss in court against the tabloid The Sun, who called the actor “the man who beat his wife.” As a result, the court found the actor guilty of domestic violence against his ex-wife Amber Heard, due to which his reputation in the eyes of the public was greatly shaken. Shortly thereafter, Warner Bros. announced its termination of cooperation with Depp.

Johnny Depp will be leaving the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films, Warner Bros.

The studio was not stopped even by the fact that Johnny had already managed to star in one of the scenes of the new film. It is noteworthy that under the terms of the contract with the company, Depp will still receive his fee in the amount of $ 10 million, regardless of how many episodes he eventually appears.

By the way, while some fans are sad because of Johnny Depp’s departure from the project, others are already fantasizing how the star of the series “Hannibal” will look in a new role for himself. Several portraits of Mads in the form of a villain have already appeared on the network: they are all drawn by fans of the franchise.
