Macron urges NATO to clarify position on Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron said that NATO members should clarify the alliance’s strategy towards Russia.

The summit of the organization starts in Brussels on June 14.

The French leader called for reducing tensions in relations with the Russian Federation but noted the need for a “strict and demanding” framework in relations with the Russian side.

Macron also welcomed the upcoming dialogue between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden in Geneva.

The leaders will meet at the Villa La Grange on June 16. The talks will discuss arms control, strategic security, Ukraine, and Belarus.
