Lukashenko promised to step down under the new Constitution

The leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that he would no longer be president after adopting the new Constitution in the country.

“I don’t make any Constitution for myself. With the new Constitution, I will not work with you as President. So calm down, calmly bear it,” he said.

Lukashenka added that he would not allow such a development of events that someone “falsified or then fabricated the elections under the new Constitution” when adopting the new Constitution.

Earlier, the Belarusian leader said that the draft of the updated Constitution would be submitted for public discussion in early 2021. It is known that the first two editions did not suit Lukashenko, so the third one is already being prepared.
