London: Mike Pompeo talks with Boris Johnson

The US – UK trade agreement and relations with Beijing are on the agenda.

US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo is on a visit to London; on Tuesday, he met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the residence of the British government at 10 Downing Street.

“Welcome to (house) number ten,” Johnson said, addressing Pompeo, before the start of an informal meeting held in the Downing Street garden.

“You look great,” Pompeo said.

During the conversation, Johnson jokingly noted that social distance does not mean diplomatic distance.

“Social distance does not imply diplomatic or political distance,” said the head of the British Cabinet.”

As previously reported, the main topics of Pompeo’s talks with Johnson are relations with China, the construction of 5G networks, and a trade agreement between Washington and London.

It is reported that during the conversation, Pompeo and Johnson stressed the importance of interaction between the United States, Britain, Australia, and Canada.
It is also noted that the interlocutors discussed the situation in Iran.

Later on Tuesday, Mike Pompeo began meeting with British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab.
