Ledecky won the 800-meter crawl and became a seven-time Olympic champion

American Katie Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle swimming at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Ledecky swam the distance in the final in 8 minutes 12.57 seconds. The second was the Australian Ariarne Titmus (+1.26 seconds), the third was the Italian Simona Quadarella (+5.78).

The 24-year-old Ledecky has already won her seventh Olympic gold. The American took a gold medal in the 1500 m crawl and two silver awards earlier at the Tokyo Games – in the 400-meter freestyle and the 4×200 m crawl relay.
