Princess Diana’s famous sapphire ring Kate received for her wedding.
The Duchess of Cambridge has worn the ring of her husband’s deceased mother for several years, but initially, it caused her inconvenience. Kate is noticeably slimmer than Princess Diana, to whom the jewelry previously belonged, so the new owner “corrected” it for herself.
It is hard to imagine that the world-famous 12-carat sapphire engagement ring, which Prince William gave to Kate Middleton, would need to be improved, writes Express.
In addition to sapphire, the ring is adorned with 14 diamonds, but its value lies primarily in the fact that it is a family heirloom. It was worn by Princess Diana. However, shortly before the wedding, jeweler G. Collins and Sons took on the delicate task of resizing the royal ring.
Instead of soldering, the jeweler decided to add small platinum beads inside the piece to make the 18-carat gold ring better suited to William’s future wife. Seemingly small changes, but because of them, the ring can no longer be considered Diana’s legacy.
