Kanye West’s new album has set a record on major music services

The new tenth studio album “Donda” by rapper and producer Kanye West set a record on the largest music services after the release. Variety reports with reference to Apple Music and Spotify.

The compilation, which was unexpectedly presented online this Sunday, took first place in the Apple Music Best Albums chart in 152 countries in the first 24 hours. In addition, 19 of the 27 songs included in “Donda” were included in the top twenty of Apple Music’s Daily Top 100 Global playlist, which includes the most popular songs from around the world.

As a result, according to Variety, “Donda” broke the 2021 record for the number of listens on the first day and also became the third most popular album on the first day since its release on Apple Music.

Streaming service Spotify also announced that Kanye West’s tenth album broke the record for the most listens per day in 2021, ahead of Olivia Rodrigo with her debut compilation “Sour.”

“Donda” is dedicated to the rapper’s late mother and topics such as parental relationships, mental health, justice, religion, and others. The album was recorded by famous artists, including Jay-Z, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Young Thug, and Jay Electronica.
