Japan will consider easing entry restrictions for athletes at the Olympics

Japan will consider easing restrictions on entry for athletes and accompanying persons of the Tokyo Olympics, said Olympic Games Minister Seiko Hashimoto.

“We will proceed from the interests of athletes and accompanying persons and consider this issue,” the Kyodo agency quoted Hashimoto.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that “if measures are not taken against the spread of coronavirus, the situation will be tough.”

The Olympics in Tokyo was supposed to open on July 24 but was postponed for a year due to the spread of new coronavirus infection in the world.
