The Italian government has been closing all schools and universities since March 5 due to the spread of the coronavirus, La Repubblica reports.
The government made this decision after the meeting on March 4. the measures will last until March 15.
In addition, the authorities are discussing the introduction of certain rules for citizens to avoid further spread of the virus: refrain from handshakes, hugs, kisses, and keep a distance of one meter from each other. People over 75 will be advised to stay at home.
The coronavirus outbreak in Italy started a couple of weeks ago. According to the latest data, 2502 cases of infection were recorded, 79 people died. Since February 23, 12 cities in the provinces of Lombardy and Veneto are in the so-called red zone, which is under quarantine.
