In February 2021, Xiaomi announced the first new generation Redmi K smartphones. The manufacturer presented the Redmi K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ models. Two months later, they were joined by the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. Xiaomi is currently working on the next generation lineup.
As expected, the next series will be called Redmi K50. At first, it will again include the regular edition along with the Pro and Pro + versions. And the main similarity with the current generation will be the use of different mobile processors.
The Redmi K40 is equipped with SoC Snapdragon 870. At a price of $ 310, the model is one of the cheapest smartphones in the world with this chip on board. In the Redmi K50, we will see the yet unannounced Snapdragon 890 platform, which should be the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888.
The Redmi K40 Pro and Pro + carry the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Their successors, the Redmi K50 Pro and K50 Pro + respectively, will be powered by the Snapdragon 895 mobile chip. By the way, there is a possibility that Qualcomm’s next top-of-the-line SoC will be called the Snapdragon 898 …
Despite the fact that information about the Redmi K50 family has already begun to appear on the Web, there is still a long way to go before the presentation. According to preliminary data, the premiere will take place in the first quarter of this year.
