Criminal prosecution threatens British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, suspected of abuse of office during the work of the Mayor of London. The Financial Times reported on Saturday, September 28.
The charges against Johnson will be examined by the Independent oversight police control (IOPC). The London Assembly called the Prime Minister for an explanation, reports BBC News.
We are talking about the politician’s ties with the American businesswoman Jennifer Akuri, who allegedly received 155 thousand dollars as state grants for the development of her business during the mayoralty of Boris Johnson. Johnson, in turn, said that as mayor has always acted “in full accordance with the rules.”
On September 25, Boris Johnson urgently left New York, where he took part in the session of the UN General Assembly and returned to the UK for an extraordinary meeting of the House of Commons, from which he faces a vote of no confidence.
Last year, Johnson reported to the London Assembly on the case for the construction of a footbridge with a garden across the Thames. The project was not implemented, but several tens of millions of pounds were spent.
