ISS escaped collision with space debris

The International Space Station on Wednesday dodged unknown space debris using the engines of the Progress cargo spacecraft, according to a NASA website.

Shortly before this, a source at the Mission Control Center in Moscow said that a dangerous approach of the ISS with an unrecognized space object was predicted, in connection with which a station evasion maneuver was planned.

The crew of the station was not endangered during the approach of the “unrecognized piece of space debris” and has already returned to normal duties, the statement said.

Maneuver Burn complete. The astronauts are coming out of safe haven.

The American department clarified that the evasion maneuver was successfully carried out with the help of the engines of the Progress cargo ship. As stated in the statement, during this operation, NASA and Russian controllers worked together.
