Iran released captured British tanker

The British tanker Stena Impero has been released and can leave Iranian territorial waters. AFP reported on Twitter.

It is known that the ship is currently in the port of Bandar Abbas in the South of the country. Before that, the authorities noted that it will be able to leave Iranian territory soon immediately after receiving a decision to end the detention.

Iran announced the seizure of a British ship in the Strait of Hormuz on July 19. The ship was detained for violating several international norms: the ship allegedly went with the transponder off, passed through the Strait in an area intended for exit, not entry, and ignored warnings.

On the same day, it turned out that on Board were 23 people, three of whom — the Russians. Also among the crew, there are citizens of India, Latvia, and the Philippines.
