Iran has threatened to seize British tanker

Tehran demands the immediate release of the Iranian tanker detained by Britain in the Strait of Gibraltar.

A high-ranking commander of the Iranian elite guard Corps of the Islamic Revolution Mohsen Rezai on Friday warned that if the Iranian tanker detained in the Strait of Gibraltar is not released immediately, it is Tehran’s “duty” to seize the British oil tanker.

On Thursday, the British Marines intercepted the supertanker Grace 1, suspected of trying to deliver oil to Syria in violation of EU sanctions.
This step has caused outrage in Tehran and threatens to exacerbate the confrontation with the West.

“If the UK does not release the Iranian oil tanker, the duty of the Iranian authorities is to seize the British oil tanker,” Rezai wrote on Twitter.
