Iran has condemned Germany’s decision to ban Hezbollah

Tehran condemns Berlin’s decision to ban the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer on Thursday banned the activities of the Lebanese movement “Hezbollah” in Germany.

“The decision of the German government is a complete disrespect to the government and people of Lebanon since Hezbollah is an official and legitimate part of the government and Parliament,” Mousavi said in a statement released by the Ministry.

According to him, Hezbollah has always enjoyed the support of the region’s population, being an influential party in the Middle East. Berlin, he noted, ignores the realities and only listens to the” propaganda machine” of Israel and the United States.

Hezbollah is recognized as a terrorist organization in the United States, Israel, the United Kingdom, Canada, and since 2016 – in the Persian Gulf countries. In Russia, this Lebanese organization is not included in the list of terrorist organizations.
