The President of the international criminal police organization elected a representative of South Korea Kim Jong-Yang , the organization said on Twitter. 101 delegates voted for Yang’s candidacy, while only 61 voted for the Russian representative Alexander Prokopchuk. The President is elected for a term of four years, three Vice-presidents for three years.

Prokopchuk has been Vice President of the organization since 2016. He also worked as deputy chief of the national Central Bureau of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, later became chief.
