India ranked second in the world in the number of COVID cases-19

India came out in second place in the world in the number of people infected with coronavirus: the disease was detected in more than 4.2 million people, according to data from the Ministry of Health and family welfare of the country and the American Johns Hopkins Institute.

In Brazil, which was previously in second place — there are more than 4.13 million patients with COVID-19. The leader remains the United States, where, according to the Johns Hopkins Institute, 6.2 million people are infected.

Over the past day, a record of 90.8 thousand infected people was registered in India. The second day in a row, the figure exceeds 90 thousand (the day before it was 90.6 thousand).

More than 3.25 million people have recovered (77.31% of the total number of cases), more than 882 thousand patients (20.99%) are being treated in hospitals, and more than 71.6 thousand (1.7%) have died.

According to the Ministry of Health, the mortality rate in India is lower than the average in the world and is constantly decreasing. Also, only 0.5% of patients with COVID-19 are on artificial ventilation, two percent are in intensive care units, and less than 3.5% receive oxygen support.
