India is concerned about US restrictions on foreign students

The Trump Administration has demanded that international students leave the country if their universities do not hold full-time classes in the fall.

India has expressed concern to the US about a new immigration decree that requires a large number of Indian students to return home, the foreign ministry said.

Last week, the administration of President Donald Trump published a new rule according to which foreign students can not stay in the United States if their universities do not hold full-time classes in the fall semester due to a coronavirus.

“We called on the American side not to forget about the role of educational exchanges and people-to-people relations in the development of relations between our countries,” Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava said at a press conference.
