US health authorities are looking into reports of potential new cases of serious side effects among people who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Previously, six cases of thromboembolic complications were reported in those vaccinated with this vaccine.

“It is encouraging that there are not many such cases, but we are studying the information and monitoring what is happening,” said the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Rochelle Walensky, at a press briefing on Monday. She added that her department and the FDA monitor the government’s government database to identify possible new cases of side effects.

Last week, federal regulators recommended suspending the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for at least a few days after six women under the age of 50 who received the vaccine developed blood clots.
