More than 500,000 children in the United States have been infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, according to data released by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
In its report, the organization presented the results of a study of cases of coronavirus among children as of the third of September. Experts collected data on the disease of children of different ages, which were reported by the health departments of 49 states, New York, Puerto Rico, and Guam. The state of Texas was not included in the sample.
“The total number of cases of COVID-19 in children: a total of 513,415 cases of COVID-19 were recorded, which is 9.8% of all cases,” the text says.
Experts noted that there are 680 cases of infection per 100,000 children. From August 20 to September 3, more than 70 thousand new cases of infection were detected.
Death rates were recorded by the health departments of 42 States and New York. Of the total number of deaths of people with coronavirus, children accounted for 0% to 0.3%. In total there are 103 cases of death of the child.
