The US Pentagon on Thursday published a report on missile defense, compiled by the Office of missile defense at the Pentagon.
The 108-page report analyzes missile threats against the United States and its allies, missile defense capabilities and its future technological development.
The report proposes to study the possibility of improving the existing system of ground-based missile defense of medium-range and the use of short-range interceptors for the destruction of Intercontinental missiles, as well as to develop technologies for tracking and destruction of missiles before they are launched using drones equipped with laser weapons, f-35 fighters, and also to consider the possibility of placing in space means of detection and interception of missiles.
Speaking at the Pentagon at the presentation of the report, the President Donald Trump said that the United States is working to create a missile defense system capable of protecting every American city. He also touched upon the formation of space forces, raising the issue of the military budget of NATO members.
Recall that according to the plan, this report was to be published last year, and the date of its publication was postponed several times.
