The number of detected cases of a new type of coronavirus in the United States over the past 24 hours has increased by 49.5 thousand, 937 more people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University, which summarizes data from Federal and local authorities, as well as the media and other open sources.

According to the University, 49,522 new cases of COVID-19 and 937 deaths among confirmed patients were registered in the United States over the past day.

A day earlier, these figures were 44,360 and 870, respectively.

According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, doctors have recorded more than 6.7 million cases of coronavirus infection and 198,603 deaths in the United States. More than 2.5 million people have recovered from the infection.

Worldwide, according to the University, more than 30.5 million cases of infection and more than 952,000 deaths were detected due to COVID-19, and more than 20.8 million people recovered.
