In the US, foreign applications will be checked for threats to national security

The administration of the current US president Joe Biden intends to conduct its own verification of applications developed and controlled by “foreign adversaries,” including China, which, according to the US authorities, pose a threat to national security, foreign policy, and the US economy.

“Based on this assessment, the Secretary of Commerce should take appropriate action,” the executive order says on the White House website.
