In the US at auction sold John Lennon’s piano

It is assumed that Lennon bought this musical instrument in 1966. The piano at different times was in two of his houses in the UK.

The piano, which was played by John Lennon, one of the founders of The Beatles, was sold at a network auction organized by Gotta Have Rock and Roll. This was reported on its official website.

According to representatives of the company based in New Jersey, the musical instrument was made around 1872. It is assumed that Lennon bought the piano in 1966, it was at different times in his two houses in the UK. According to experts of the company, Lennon improvised on it when he wrote songs. Some of them were later included in the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album (1967).

Later, the musician decided to give the piano to his friend, to whom it is not specified. Lennon ordered a small metal plate with his name on it to be affixed to the instrument. It also shows the year – 1971 – and the names of several songs that he wrote while improvising on this piano.

American collector of musical instruments Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter that he became the new owner. “This is a responsibility that I take seriously, keeping in mind future generations,” said Irsay, who also owns the American football team Indianapolis Colts.

According to Forbes magazine, Irsay is the owner of a fortune of $2.7 billion In his collection includes, in particular, guitars owned by Lennon, Ringo Starr, and Bob Dylan.
