Labrador retrievers are named the most popular dog breed in the United States for the 28th year in a row. This was reported by the country’s largest organization of dog breeders American Kennel Club.
The top five most popular breeds also include German shepherd, Golden Retriever, French and English bulldogs. Behind them in the list are the Beagle, poodle, Rottweiler, German short-haired pointing Griffon, and Yorkshire Terrier. The rating is based on the analysis of registration of dogs and puppies in the USA for 2018.
“Labradors make great companions – they are very smart, friendly and get along well with children,” – said in the American Kennel Club. Labradors have long broken the previous record of being at the top of the rating of the most popular dogs in the United States – in the XX century for 22 years this place of honor was occupied by poodles.
As experts believe, recently Americans again began to appreciate in dogs ingenuity, ability to give in to training, quiet character and good manners.
