In the US, the first death of an infant from a coronavirus was recorded, according to the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH).
“Never before has there been a COVID-19-related death among infants. A full investigation is currently underway to determine the cause, ” IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said.
The Department notes that the elderly are most at high risk of serious diseases. More than 85% of deaths in Illinois occur in people aged 60 and older. However, the disease is hard to tolerate by people of all ages.
As of today, IDPH has reported 465 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 13 new deaths. 3,491 cases of coronavirus were recorded in the state, including 47 deaths. The age of patients varies from one year to 99 years.
