In New York, nursing home staff will be tested twice a week for coronavirus

The state Governor announced new measures to contain the pandemic.
All nursing homes in New York State will have to test staff for coronavirus twice a week, state Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday. This is done to contain the spread of the virus in the most favorable environment for it.

At a daily briefing, Cuomo announced new rules being introduced to protect residents of nursing homes. For example, hospitals will not be able to discharge patients with COVID-19 to a nursing home until their coronavirus test is negative.

“This will be the rule, not that “I would appreciate it if you do this,” Cuomo said, noting that medical facilities that violate this rule will lose their licenses.
