In Nantes, a suspect was detained in the case of arson of a Catholic Cathedral

French law enforcement authorities have taken into custody a 39-year-old native of Rwanda, who was detained in connection with the investigation of the causes of the fire in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Nantes.

The man was a volunteer in the diocese. He was supposed to close the doors of the Cathedral in the evening.

In the field of view of law enforcement officers, the Rwandan was the first time. Moreover, the Nantes Prosecutor’s office points out that any conclusions about the man’s involvement in the arson are premature. The suspicion is based only on the fact that there were no signs of forced entry to the Cathedral doors.

As reported, investigators found at the scene of the fire at once three fires and as the main version called deliberate fire.
