Mexico has entered the second phase of the coronavirus epidemic, which is characterized by local spread of infection, for new cases of infection it becomes impossible to track the source, said the Deputy Head of the Ministry of health of Mexico, Hugo Lopez-Gatel, responsible for coordinating the government’s measures to combat the coronavirus.
“The transmission of the virus was slow. We have not yet reached the turning point where the infection rate curve starts to rise, and this is an opportunity for Mexico to contain the spread of the virus. Now we are formally announcing the beginning of the second phase,” Lopez-Gatel said during a press conference.
According to the official, the government is trying to maintain a low rate of spread of the coronavirus to avoid overloading the health system.
The total number of cases studied in Mexico has exceeded 2000. 1865 samples gave a negative result, 367 patients were confirmed to have coronavirus, 826 suspicious cases were detected, and four died. Most of the COVID-19 diseases detected in Mexico occur with mild symptoms without the use of intensive care units.
