According to The Hill newspaper, the teenager had an airsoft gun that “looks exactly like a real gun.”

In Maryland, a police officer, who arrived on a call to check a report of an armed attacker, shot and killed a 16-year-old teenager. The Hill newspaper reported this.

According to her, the state police confirmed that they received two calls, which referred to a person with an object resembling a firearm. It was later determined that the item found at the scene was an airsoft gun that “looks exactly like a real gun.”

The witness claims that the teenager aimed at the police officer, after which the law enforcement officer shot him. A second witness reported that the young man tried to get up, holding a knife in his hand, before the police officer demanded to put down the weapon and fired again.

A young man named Payton Ham was treated but later died in hospital. The police officer was not injured and is on administrative leave pending an investigation.
