A baby whale got stuck in one of the locks of the Thames in London; he was rescued, according to the local newspaper Evening Standard.
According to the publication, the animal was stuck in the Richmond gateway in southwest London. Before the arrival of rescuers, attempts were made to fill the lock with water so that the whale could get out.
“Around seven o’clock on Sunday evening, a small whale with a length of approximately three to four meters, presumably a minke whale, washed up on the shore,” a spokesman for the Port of London Authority said.
Representatives of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, as well as fire crews and divers, took part in the rescue of the whale.
