In Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda won elections

As the Central Electoral Commission of Lithuania reported, independent candidate Gitanas Nauseda won the presidential election. He scored twice more votes than his rival Ingrida Simonyte.

For Nausea voted 65,86% of the voters, simonite got 32,86% of the vote.

In total, 53% of voters took part in the elections.
Nauseda Gitanas addressed the audience on the Daukantas square, thanked them for their support and congratulated all Lithuania.

He thanked his team and Ingrida Simonyte, calling her opponent, whom you can only dream.

Nauseda called on the political forces of Lithuania to unite and promised to make the presidential Palace more open to all social groups.

The President-elect also noted that he would change the rhetoric towards Russia, but after Moscow changes its attitude towards Ukraine.

The first round of presidential elections was held in Lithuania on May 12. 9 candidates attended it. Simonite in the first round scored 31,31% of the votes and Nauseda — of 30.94%. Simonite supports the same party that nominated Dalia Grybauskaite ten years ago — “The Fatherland Union — Christian Democrats.” Nauseda is a non-party candidate. He was a member of the management of the Bank of Lithuania and worked in business.

The second term of office of the current President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite ends in July.
