In Britain, the Houthis are suspected of attacking the Mercer Street ship

Soldiers of the British Special Air Service visited Yemen to find those responsible for the attack on the Mercer Street tanker; there are suspicions that the Houthis were behind the attack, the Express newspaper reports.

It is assumed that the Houthis carried out the attack on behalf of Tehran, which provided them with a drone.

According to the US and Israeli intelligence services, the drone was sent from eastern Yemen.

“Everything points to the fact that the drone was launched from Yemen,” the newspaper quotes a military source from the UK as saying.

The Liberian-flagged tanker Mercer Street was attacked in the Arabian Sea on July 29. Israeli entrepreneur Eyal Ofer owns the company operator of the Zodiac Maritime vessel. As a result of the incident, two crew members were killed – a Romanian citizen and a British citizen, presumably responsible for protecting the ship. The US has blamed Iran for the attack on a ship in the Arabian Sea using a drone. The Iranian Foreign Ministry later called the statements of the United States and Britain about Tehran’s involvement in the attacks on an Israeli tanker contradictory and groundless.
