Berlin authorities have ordered all bars, pubs, and clubs to be closed from the middle of next week because of the coronavirus, said the head of the administration of the German capital, Michael Muller.
“Due to the spread of the coronavirus, all clubs, bars, and pubs in Berlin will be closed from the middle of next week,” the press service of the city administration quotes Muller.
According to him, catering establishments will remain open. The decision will be formalized legally on Tuesday, March 17. Whether it will come into force on the same day or Wednesday is not yet clear, the press release says. The decision will be valid until April 20, when the situation will be reviewed.
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Germany is 2.4 thousand, five people died. The world health organization declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic on March 11. About 120,000 people in more than 100 countries have been infected in the world, most of them have recovered, and more than 4,000 have died.
