In Belgium, a cat first became infected with a human coronavirus

The Belgian authorities announced the first case of transmission of coronavirus from man to cat. About this writes the publication RTBF with reference to a press conference of the Belgian anti-crisis headquarters to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The cat began to suffer from diarrhea and an unknown respiratory illness a week after its owner was diagnosed with COVID-19. After the owner of the cat went to the hospital, the doctors decided to do a test for her as well. As a result, its results were positive.

So far, representatives of the center call this case a single one, which can be explained only by “close contact between the animal and man.” After that, Belgium updated the safety rules during coronavirus infection, adding that it is advisable for a person to maintain a distance with his pets.

Earlier, a dog died in Hong Kong, becoming the first animal to test positive for coronavirus infection.
