In Atlanta, two people were killed in a shooting during protests

Two people were killed and five injured in a shooting incident in the city of Atlanta in the US state of Georgia reports the Fox TV channel regarding the police.

According to police, unknown people opened fire from a car in the Edgewood neighborhood of East Atlanta around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Two people were killed, five were injured and were taken to a hospital in serious condition, law enforcement officials said. The incident is being investigated.

On Saturday, protests began in Atlanta after the death of 27-year-old African-American Rayshard Brooks, who was injured when police detained him on Friday. As reported by the police, law enforcement officers on Friday evening came on call because of a complaint that the car in which the man was sleeping, blocked part of the site at a fast food cafe Wendy’s.

They found out that Brooks was drunk and tried to detain him, but he snatched a Taser from the security officer and tried to escape. A police officer shot the man, and Brooks died in the hospital after surgery. Atlanta police chief Erica Shields resigned after the incident.

Protesters on Saturday set cars on fire, smashed windows, and blocked roads. Atlanta police used tear gas to disperse the protesters.
