Huawei went to the trick in the trade war against the United States

Chinese company Huawei has hired a law firm Sidley Austin to lobby for trade, as the United States, which has already made the company in its blacklist, put pressure on allies, demanding to introduce the same measures. This writes Bloomberg.

Lobbying will concern export controls, trade restrictions and “other topics related to national security,” the agency writes, citing documents that Huawei and Sidley Austin provided to the US Senate. As noted by Bloomberg, the situation has shown the deepening links Huawei with Sidley Austin. In addition to increasing lobbying, the firm is already conducting legal disputes in the US on behalf of a Chinese company.

Huawei after the escalation of the trade conflict between the US and China in May got into the US blacklist. Us authorities suspected the company in cooperation with Chinese intelligence services and said that the measure is necessary for the interests of US national security. After inclusion in the blacklist of American companies, it became necessary to obtain a special permit for cooperation with Huawei.

However, one of the main American partners of the Chinese company — Google — decided not to do it. The result Huawei was threatened to lose the support of the Android operating system — on smartphones, Chinese companies operate outside of China. This meant that owners of Chinese smartphones lose access to applications such as the Chrome browser, YouTube, Play Market app store.

At the end of June, the leaders of the US and China Donald trump and XI Jinping at the G20 summit agreed on a truce, one of the points of which was the lifting of the ban on cooperation with Huawei for American companies. However, at the end of July, relations between the two countries deteriorated again and they exchanged threats. After that, it became known that the US authorities have decided not to issue licenses to American companies to work with the Chinese counterparty.
In the US, lobbying is a legal activity aimed at promoting various bills both at the Federal level and at the level of most States. Lobbying is regulated by law, and professional lobbyists are required to register and report on their activities. The services of lobbyists can be used even by States that want to get a particular decision of the American authorities in their favor.
