Huawei showed new smartphones P50 and P50 Pro, which do not have Android

After a long break, the Chinese company Huawei announced the release of a new series of P50 smartphones. The phones run on the Harmony OS 2.0 operating system, according to GSMArena.

Contrary to forecasts, the series includes only two models – Huawei P50 and P50 Pro. Both phones are about the same size; the older version is equipped with a curved 6.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1225 x 2700 pixels with support for HDR with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The basic version is satisfied with 90 Hz.

Huawei’s unusual solution with a smartphone platform: both models will be available with a Snapdragon 888 chip. But for the P50 Pro, an option with a proprietary Kirin 9000 chip will be available. The oddities do not end there — although the platforms support 5G, smartphones will only work with outdated LTE.

The original solution of the back panel hides a lot of photo sensors — the main one at 50 MP with optical stabilization is the same for the entire series. The older model received a 64-megapixel periscope camera with a 3.5-fold optical zoom, a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 40-megapixel black-and-white camera.

Smartphones have received a scattering of modern wireless interfaces. The entire P50 line supports wireless charging; the tubes differ in the volume of batteries-4360 mAh for the Pro and 4100 mAh for the basic version.

Both smartphones will be available worldwide, and the global launch of sales is scheduled for August.
