Chinese IT giant Huawei is considering launching a smartphone with a flexible display, according to network sources. It will bend around the surface of the case.
Earlier this year, the company launched the Huawei Mate X2 foldable smartphone with an inward-folding screen as a counterpart to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. Now, the company has gone further. The following extensive and detailed patent shows which technology is currently at an advanced stage of development.
Information about the device was published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Resource LetsGoDigital presented images that give an idea of the design of the device.
Judging by the patent, the smartphone will be based on a flexible POLED display on a plastic substrate. Huawei also plans to use a special magnet-based support mechanism.
The analyst suggests that the new device will be called the Mate X Rollable.
