The President of Mexico and the Vice President of the United States will hold virtual talks.
Mexico and the United States will discuss ways to ease the problem of illegal immigration during talks this week, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said.
Lopez Obrador and US Vice President Kamala Harris will hold a virtual meeting on Friday to explore joint approaches to stemming the surge in the number of migrants arriving at the southern US border.
“The main topic will be migration,” Lopez Obrador said at a news conference, noting that other topics may arise, including the timing of the lifting of restrictions on the US-Mexico border imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, the US government said that Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday discussed the migration issue with Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.
