Gripen E fighter engine checked by frost

The Swedish fighter Gripen E was tested by frost. This is stated on the website of Defense Aerospace.

The Swedish company Saab in winter 2020 tested its fighter JAS-39E Gripen E with frost – at temperatures from −20 to −26°C. Testing of the device passed to analyze the operation of on-board systems and the engine in different weather conditions.

The tests were successful – the JAS-39E Gripen E showed excellent engine and all onboard systems in cold weather. In addition, the aircraft landed with braking on a snowy and icy runway.

Fighter Gripen E will be able to make cruising supersonic flights. The device can carry increased combat load, and also has an electro-remote control system, innovative communication equipment, and an infrared search and tracking system.

The promising Gripen E fighter has been mass-produced by Saab since the beginning of 2019. The aircraft has two versions: for the Swedish Air Force and for the Brazilian Air Force. The company has already concluded contracts for the assembly of 60 and 36 devices, respectively.
