A representative of the German Ministry of economy said that Berlin is closely monitoring the development of the situation around the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline, including in the United States. A representative of the Department said this during a briefing on Friday, June 5.
In an interview with the press, a representative of the Department noted that “we do not comment on this. Our principled position on extraterritorial sanctions is also clear. We reject them.” It is worth noting that a bill on expanding sanctions against the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project was submitted to the US Senate earlier.
In particular, the document provides for the introduction of restrictions on insurance companies that serve vessels involved in the construction of the gas pipeline. It is known that at the end of last year, the US authorities adopted a defense budget, which included the introduction of restrictions against companies involved in the implementation of the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project.
